Chelsea winger Jesse Derry has committed his long-term future to the Premier League club by signing a new contract, and is finalizing a season-long loan move to Portuguese side Sporting CP on July 8, 2026.
According to BBC and Metro reports, the temporary switch to Lisbon is a straight loan agreement that contains no option for Sporting to purchase the 19-year-old permanently.

The move follows Chelsea's decision to hand the England youth international improved terms as a reward for breaking into the senior squad last season.
Rapid Rise at Stamford Bridge
Derry arrived at Chelsea from Crystal Palace in 2025 and made three first-team appearances during his debut campaign with the Blues.
This included a Premier League start against Nottingham Forest that was cut short due to a head injury.
After making a full recovery, the forward attracted significant transfer interest from European giants Bayern Munich, as well as domestic clubs Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, and Southampton.

Instead of remaining in England, Derry will gain Champions League experience with Sporting, who finished second in the Primeira Liga last season.
The teenager's rapid rise has drawn praise from former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who named Derry as one of the top young talents in the Premier League.
"Jesse Derry, I know his dad, Shaun, he's an ex-player, but I know the kid, wow, ridiculous, not only a talent, but an actual, like, as a kid who loves, loves the game," Ferdinand said.
