Nintendo has announced that its mobile game Mario Kart Tour will officially shut down on September 29, 2026, at 11 p.
m. Pacific time.

The decision ends the title's seven-year run on smartphones.
The company confirmed the closure in a blog post, thanking players for their support.
"We sincerely thank the many players who have loved and supported the game since service began so long ago," Nintendo wrote.
No Offline Version Planned
Unlike the previous termination of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Nintendo stated that a standalone offline edition of Mario Kart Tour will not be provided.
An official FAQ page confirmed: "An offline version is not scheduled for release."

Existing in-game rubies can still be used in the Spotlight Shop, Mii Racing Suit Shop, and Coin Rush until the shutdown.
Nintendo has also halted sales of premium ruby currency and disabled automatic renewals for the Gold Pass subscription.
Starting August 4, 2026, all active players will receive free access to premium Gold Pass benefits until the servers close.
The mobile title previously fueled content development for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Switch expansion pass. New content updates for that game ended in October 2023.

With Mario Kart Tour's closure, Nintendo's smartphone game catalog shrinks further. Remaining titles include Fire Emblem Heroes, Shadows, Super Mario Run, and Niantic's Pikmin Bloom.
