Specific complaints were directed at Madrid due to its defense budget choices. "Spain doesn't agree to anything, and you shouldn't carry them," Trump said.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded firmly regarding the status of the autonomous territory, stating "every inch" and dismissing any possibility of transferring ownership of the island.

"Of course not for sale," she said.

Spanish officials maintained a composed stance regarding the trade threats from the US administration.

"Our country maintains an excellent social, cultural and economic relationship with the US, and we have no intention of changing that," said Spanish government sources.
