Todd launched the Tudor Road store and later sold his five locations in 2017 to retire.

He noted that the Alaska market was historically highly successful, recalling that every Dairy Queen sales record was broken in the first month of operation.

During the franchise's peak years, demand was so high that soft-serve was flown up on Alaska Airlines to keep up with sales.

Pete Ischi, co-owner of the Soldotna Dairy Queen, expressed surprise at the sudden exit of the neighboring franchise group.

He stated that distance prevented his family from absorbing the central and corporate locations when opportunities arose.

Ischi added that operating in Alaska presents unique logistical hurdles, specifically regarding supply chains and shipping fees.

Despite these regional challenges, the Soldotna location reports strong sales and is currently being purchased by the owners' son to ensure continuity.

The family emphasized that their business remains entirely stable and committed to the community, with no thought of closing.

A Dairy Queen spokesperson said, "We can confirm that these restaurants have closed.

We are grateful to our loyal fans and the local communities for their support over the years."

The parent company indicated it is actively reviewing options to re-establish its commercial presence in the affected Alaska markets.
