A Tesla driver was spotted apparently sleeping behind the wheel while traveling at up to 62 mph (100 km/h) on the Trans-Canada Highway.
According to a fellow motorist, two children were in the back seats at the time.

Footage circulating online shows a woman in a Tesla Model Y with her head slumped over, seemingly unaware she is snoozing at highway speed.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon between Golden and Revelstoke, British Columbia.
The driver's sunglasses may have fooled the vehicle's driver-monitoring system.
Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) package uses an in-car camera to track eye movements and torque sensors in the steering wheel.
However, sunglasses can easily trick the camera, as seen in past cases.
Fellow motorist Carleigh King captured the video and reported the situation to authorities.

She told CBC that two children were in the rear seats, putting their lives at risk.
It is unclear how the driver bypassed the steering wheel torque sensors, though cheap accessories to do so are sold online.

C. Highway Patrol said the driver could face serious charges.
“Anything from a simple violation ticket all the way up to criminal charges for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,” he stated.

He added that criminal charges for negligence could apply if children were endangered.
