She became concerned when her daughter indicated that Cruz planned to “do the same thing” as his cousin, Salvador Ramos.
Details of the Threat
Investigators spoke with Cruz's sister, who said he threatened her life while discussing a plan to attack a school.
She recounted that he told her he would “shoot the school.”
His mother also overheard Cruz attempting to acquire an AR-15-style rifle, the same type of weapon used in the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Cruz faces felony charges for making a terroristic threat to a public place and a misdemeanor charge for threatening a family member.
His bond was set at $160,000.

San Antonio police Sgt. Washington Moscoso confirmed the familial connection between Cruz and Ramos.
The 2022 shooting killed 19 children and two teachers, becoming one of the deadliest school incidents in recent U.

It sparked widespread criticism of law enforcement's delayed response.
According to the affidavit, Cruz's mother was particularly worried because he was on probation and allegedly intoxicated when he made the threats.
Following his arrest, Cruz denied making any threats during an interview with detectives.
