Honduran club Olimpia defeated Guatemala's Deportivo Mixco 2-0 in their Group C opener of the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup on July 28 at Estadio Nacional Chelato Ucles in Tegucigalpa.
Jorge Benguche opened the scoring in the 27th minute.

Edwin Rodriguez doubled the lead in the 80th minute with a left-footed strike inside the box after an assist from Kevin Guity.
The match marked Deportivo Mixco's first international fixture, four years after reaching Guatemala's top division.
Mixco is one of four Guatemalan teams in the tournament, alongside Antigua GFC, Xelaju MC, and CSD Municipal.
Coach Benitez on the Challenge
Mixco manager Fabricio Benitez said before the match that Olimpia would be physically strong at home.
He noted that his team would try to manage the ball and create chances.

Benitez acknowledged Olimpia and Saprissa as group favorites but stressed that regional football is becoming more competitive. He said results are now less predictable across Central America.
Reflecting on his club's debut, Benitez called Mixco a young club that has been in the top division for four years.
He said the tournament marks a historic milestone for the institution.
Benitez also highlighted the challenging atmosphere in Tegucigalpa but expressed hope that Mixco could pull off a surprise.

Olimpia will next visit UMECIT FC, while Deportivo Mixco travels to face Deportivo Saprissa on August 11.
