Costco is making a small change to one of its most recognizable food court items without touching the price that made it famous.

The warehouse retailer is introducing a new drink option for its long-running $1.50 hot dog combo, allowing members to choose bottled water instead of a fountain soda.

The price remains unchanged, continuing a streak that has lasted for four decades.

Same deal, new drink choice

The combo still includes a quarter-pound all-beef hot dog paired with a drink. Traditionally, that meant a 20-ounce fountain soda with free refills.

Now, customers can swap that soda for a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature water.

The adjustment gives members a different option without altering the value that has defined the offering since the 1980s.

Price holds steady after decades

The $1.50 price point has remained untouched for roughly 40 years, despite rising food and operating costs across the retail industry.

Company leadership has repeatedly signaled that the price is not expected to change. Earlier this year, CEO Ron Vachris emphasized that the hot dog combo would stay at its current price for the foreseeable future.

In a social media post, he described it as the “best lunch in town,” highlighting its role as a consistent draw for customers.

Membership still required

The food court deal is available only to customers with an active Costco membership at most locations.

Membership pricing currently starts at $65 per year for the Gold Star tier and $130 for the Executive level.

A limited-time promotion offers new members a $45 digital shop card when signing up, though the offer is set to expire on May 10.

Expansion plans continue elsewhere

While no new locations have been announced for Florida, the company is continuing to expand in other regions during 2026.

New warehouses are scheduled to open in California, Texas, and Utah, along with a business center in Canada.

Even as Costco grows its footprint, the familiar $1.50 combo remains unchanged in price—now with one more choice at the counter.
