The Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 in 10 innings at Angel Stadium on Wednesday night, capitalizing on a ninth-inning home run and a tenth-inning fielding error.
The Angels surrendered a two-run lead late in the game, suffering their 23rd loss in 29 games and dropping to 17-33.

Los Angeles hit three home runs in the first two innings. Jorge Soler crushed a 432-foot two-run homer in the first to tie the game at 2-2.
Jo Adell hit his seventh home run of the season in the second inning to tie it again at 3-3.
Josh Lowe then added a 425-foot two-run homer later in the second to give the Angels a 5-3 lead.
However, Lowe committed two defensive errors, including a misplay in the 10th inning that allowed Nick Kurtz to score the winning run for Oakland.
Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz settled after allowing three runs and four walks in the first two innings, retiring 12 consecutive batters and matching his season high with seven strikeouts.

Relievers Ryan Zeferjahn and Sam Bachman allowed the Athletics to cut the deficit to one run in the seventh inning.
Closer Kirby Yates then surrendered a game-tying solo home run to Jeff McNeil in the ninth.
Chase Silseth pitched the 10th for the Angels and gave up a single to Tyler Soderstrom, which drove in the automatic runner after Lowe's outfield error.
The Angels failed to score in the bottom of the 10th.

Lowe struck out on a bunt attempt, Zach Neto grounded out, and Soler grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game.
