Following an early-season victory against Indiana where the team committed 28 personal fouls, Bueckers highlighted the defensive adjustments required by the developing roster.

"I think building a wall and playing as a fist on defense," said Bueckers.

The defensive gaps allowed Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell to score 30 points during that earlier matchup.

"I felt like we let Kelsey Mitchell get off a little bit, get to the paint without any disruption," said Bueckers.

Despite the early foul trouble, Bueckers expressed confidence in the physical progression of the squad.

"It's better to have to tone down the physicality than to lift it up," said Bueckers.

The team's shooting efficiency fluctuated significantly between 59% and 38% over the opening week. Bueckers emphasized fundamental execution.

"We'll continue to get better.

But I think our discipline, being able to box out and rebound, and deliver teams to one shot as well," said Bueckers.

The victory against Washington was attended by several UConn Huskies players, including Sarah Strong, Ice Brady, and Kelis Fisher.

They arrived to support Bueckers and teammate Azzi Fudd.

Former WNBA player Allison Feaster celebrated the collegiate reunion on social media with the caption "Las nenas."

The official WNBA Instagram page highlighted the visual support from the courtside collegiate athletes during the broadcast.
