Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has died at the age of 41 after being hospitalized with a severe illness, the racing organization confirmed on Thursday.
Busch had been admitted to the hospital earlier the same day, and his family announced he would miss the upcoming weekend race in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers.
He was 41 years old," the organization wrote on social media.
NASCAR extended condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and the entire motorsports community.
No specific cause of death was provided.

Recent Health Struggles
Medical issues for the Las Vegas native surfaced earlier this month during a Cup Series race at Watkins Glen on May 10.
Busch requested medical help and an injection after struggling with a sinus cold worsened by elevation changes and heavy G-forces.
Despite the physical distress, he finished eighth in that event.

Busch held the 24th spot in the Cup Series standings this season, with two top-10 finishes across 12 races during his fourth year with Richard Childress Racing.
