"It's a double-edged sword," said Kitchener's Jared Woolley (LA).
Rangers defenseman Jared Woolley is making his third consecutive appearance in the Memorial Cup, alongside teammate Sam O'Reilly, who earned OHL regular season and postseason MVP honors.
"It's good to be back," Woolley said.
The veteran defenseman indicated that prior tournament experiences with London in Saginaw and Rimouski would assist the team during high-pressure situations.
"You're going to be in some situations you've already been in before so you can look back at what you've done in the past.
It's going to be leaning on that past experience," Woolley explained.
Kitchener added Woolley and O'Reilly at the OHL trade deadline to bolster their lineup, while Kelowna also acquired high-end talent during the season.
"They picked up some high-end players," Woolley said.
The Rangers defenseman added that the host team would likely seek a strong start following an early exit from their regional league playoffs.
"Obviously, they didn't make their playoff run how they wanted to so they'll be looking to come out strong and be hungry," he said.
