Former Celtic, Heart of Midlothian, and Scotland international Mike Galloway has died at the age of 60, his former clubs confirmed on May 20, 2026.
Galloway, a versatile defensive midfielder, was born in Shropshire on May 30, 1965.

He spent his early years moving between military bases due to his father's service in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers.
His professional career began at Mansfield Town and Halifax Town before he secured a £60,000 transfer to Hearts in November 1987.
During two seasons at Tynecastle, Galloway made 86 appearances and scored 22 goals.
He helped Hearts finish as runners-up in the Scottish Premier Division and reach the UEFA Cup quarterfinals.

His performances, including goals against St. Patrick’s Athletic, Velez Mostar, and FK Austria, earned him a £560,000 move to Celtic in June 1989.
He made 160 appearances for the Hoops.
Galloway also represented Scotland, earning an Under-21 cap in March 1989 and a senior cap against Romania in October 1991.
After a brief loan spell with Leicester City, his playing career was cut short by a near-fatal car accident in August 1995.
