"He set completely new standards for a professional football player - how hard you can work, how much you can invest in recovery and everything," said Klopp.
The German manager initially sought to sign Julian Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 but was convinced by data analysts, including Michael Edwards, to secure Salah from AS Roma for £34.3 million instead.
Klopp also recalled his initial tactical assessments of Robertson when they first discussed the defender's £8 million transfer from Hull City.
"I like everything about what you're doing offensively and I don't think I like anything of the things you do defensively," said Klopp.
Robertson eventually established himself as a fixture in the lineup, contributing 60 Premier League assists.
Current Liverpool head coach Arne Slot praised the Scottish left-back for his tactical influence on modern football tactics.
"I think we all remember the press versus Man City, many, many managers showed that to their players.
I was one of them," said Slot.
Slot added that Robertson significantly altered the expectations and defensive dynamics required for the left-back role during his career at Anfield.

"He is maybe the player that changed that position into a player that constantly goes up and down, important on both sides of the pitch," said Slot.
Robertson's defensive partner and current club captain Virgil van Dijk emphasized the leadership qualities that the departing forward brought to the dressing room.
"Mo is not a big talker, but obviously he's a leader by example. So it's those types of things I'm 100% going to miss," said Van Dijk.
