The long-term future of San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox has become a topic of discussion across the league during the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Concerns have surfaced just one season after Fox signed a lucrative contract extension with the organization.

The emergence of rookie guard Dylan Harper, selected second overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, has triggered speculation regarding Fox's role.
According to a report from Sam Amick of The Athletic, NBA executives believe Harper will eventually demand a starting role alongside second-year guard Stephon Castle.
"There's already league-wide chatter about how his time here might be cut short," wrote Amick.
"The assertion, shared by rival executives and media folks alike, is that rookie guard Dylan Harper is simply too good to come off the bench for long and will eventually need to start alongside second-year guard Stephon Castle."
San Antonio acquired Fox from the Sacramento Kings last year in a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls.
Fox averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.5 steals over 17 regular-season appearances during his initial stretch with the Spurs.
The franchise subsequently rewarded Fox with a four-year, $229 million contract extension last summer, binding him through the 2029-30 season without a player option.
Despite the roster complications, Amick noted that the Spurs have a history of managing elite talent in reserve roles, drawing comparisons to a former franchise icon.
