Prior to the matchup, the Mets had momentum from a three-game sweep over the Miami Marlins, scoring 25 runs in that series.

Monday's game remained close.

Josh Naylor hit a home run in the seventh inning to tie the match at two before Young became the deciding factor.

Austin Warren served as the opener for the Mets, followed by Sean Manaea, who pitched five innings, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts.

Manaea has achieved three consecutive single-run appearances, lowering his ERA to 5.08 from above 6.50 less than a month ago.

The sole hit allowed by Manaea was a third-inning home run by Colt Emerson.

The Mets responded with solo home runs from Jared Young in the fifth inning and Marcus Semien in the sixth.

Those two home runs accounted for the only hits recorded by the Mets throughout the entire game, leaving the team without any additional baserunners.

Mariners pitcher Emerson Hancock delivered six innings, allowing two runs on two hits and registering seven strikeouts.

Seattle's bullpen contributed four scoreless and hitless innings, enabling Gabe Speier to earn his first victory of the season.

AJ Minter took the loss for the Mets after giving up one hit.

Randy Arozarena served as the extra runner at second base before stealing third and scoring the winning run.

The Mets' offensive production slowed significantly after generating 10 runs on Sunday against Miami, with Semien and Young recording the only hits on Monday.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, the Mariners plan to start Logan Gilbert (3-4, 3.69 ERA), while Huascar Brazoban (3-1, 1.86 ERA) will take the mound for the Mets.
