New York City is organizing a historic ticker-tape parade to celebrate the New York Knicks winning their first championship in generations, according to a report by WABC.
Officials expect to release additional logistical details regarding the celebration on Sunday, June 14.

The upcoming event represents the first ticker-tape parade dedicated to the Knicks in the history of the franchise.
Beyond the parade, municipal infrastructure will participate in honoring the team's basketball victory.
Mayor Hails Long-Awaited Triumph
Mayor Mamdani noted that the championship concludes decades of waiting for local sports fans.
"For more than 50 years, New Yorkers have waited for this moment.

Through near misses, heartbreak and a hope that every year could be our year, this city never stopped believing in the Knicks.
And this team fulfilled that hope with grit, resilience and heart," Mamdani said.
The mayor further announced that municipal buildings and City Hall will illuminate their structures in blue and orange on the night of Thursday, June 18.
