"Look, everything is dynamic, things can be discussed on this and we certainly want to create competitive fair play on the field, that's why every coach on the team has got their visa, has the opportunity to come in," Giuliani told The Telegraph.

The executive branch maintained that background checks had been successfully completed well ahead of the tournament schedule.

"The president wants to make sure this tournament strikes a competitive balance, while also making sure bad actors don't get into the country.

We've done that, with a month to go," Giuliani said.

The U. S.

Department of Homeland Security reiterated that the travel stipulations were not unilateral, having been established through prior diplomatic coordination.

"The Iranian National Football Team agreed to these terms," a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson stated to Yahoo.

The Department of Homeland Security emphasized that maintaining strict operational parameters around team bases remains vital for tournament safety.

"Again, the President wants to make sure that we're talking about what actually happens on the pitch.

A lot of that is making sure that things are safe and secure, not just around the stadiums, but around base camps and training sites," the department spokesperson explained.

Meanwhile, the U. S.

Department of State confirmed that individual player documentation issues, such as the expired visa of winger Mehdi Torabi, had been efficiently rectified by consular services in Mexico.

"This issue has been resolved," the U. S.

Department of State declared in a public update.

Consular offices prioritized the athlete's documentation to prevent any further disruptions to Iran's active tournament roster.

"As soon as we became aware of the issue, we worked to ensure that the player can participate in every game," the State Department added.

While Iran maintains that its short-turnaround travel itinerary creates an unfair disadvantage, tournament records show that such schedules align with general standard travel regulations.

"Each team shall travel from its team base camp to the match venue one day before matchday (MD‑1) and in exceptional cases on MD‑2, and shall return to their team base camp after the match (on MD/MD+1)," states Article 18.3 of the FIFA 2026 World Cup regulations.
