Thousands of Scottish soccer supporters transformed loanDepot Park on Monday night into a vibrant party ahead of Scotland's World Cup match against Brazil.

The Tartan Army marched a mile from a local bar to the stadium, taking over the Miami Marlins baseball game as part of their major league stadium tour.

Similar street takeovers occurred in Boston and New York during Scotland's first World Cup appearance in 28 years.

Local baseball fans noted that the estimated 8,000 Scottish supporters drastically altered the typical stadium atmosphere, which often suffers from low regular-season attendance.

"It's going to give a really good experience to us fans," said Victor Munoz, a Miami native.

He expressed optimism that the influx of international spectators would bring greater global visibility to the franchise.

The Marlins lost 4-3 to the Texas Rangers, ending an eight-game home winning streak.

Yet the visitors continued singing and chanting throughout the concourses long after the final pitch.

"Lively out there tonight," said Clayton McCullough, Marlins manager.

The team entered the game with a June record of 14-4 and average attendance of 12,604. The Scottish turnout boosted official Monday attendance to 20,008.

"We're loving everything," said Johnnie Sloan, who flew from Glasgow, Scotland, to Boston and drove to Miami for Wednesday's match.

The traveling supporters arrived after celebrations in the Boston area, where fans marked Scotland's tournament opener victory against Haiti and placed traffic cones on 17 local statues.
