Tracy found himself impressed by the overall execution under difficult circumstances.

"I don't really know much else to say about it other than awesome," Tracy said.

The Boston manager also laughed off a fifth-inning incident when the benches cleared after Yankees starter Will Warren threw inside to Willson Contreras.

"Everybody went out there and stood around, had a picnic, then came back in," Tracy said.

Contreras, who hit a solo home run in the third inning, downplayed the animated confrontation with Warren.

"Part of the game," Contreras said.

The veteran explained that such tense moments are common within high-stakes baseball rivalries.

"Maybe people can look at it in different ways. I looked up at it one way," Contreras said.

The offensive production also featured rookie infielder Tsung-Che Cheng, who recorded his first Major League hit and run batted in during the second inning.

"I waited for this for a year," Cheng said.

Cheng expressed relief after making a successful impact following his call-up from Triple-A.

"It finally showed up," Cheng said.
