England defender Jarell Quansah sustained a right ankle injury during the second half of the national team's final World Cup group stage match against Panama in New York on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen player limped off the pitch just after the hour mark following a foul challenge that earned him a yellow card.

Manager Thomas Tuchel substituted him with Djed Spence.
The injury deepens a severe defensive crisis for England, as first-choice right-back Reece James missed the match due to a hamstring setback and Tino Livramento was ruled out of the entire tournament beforehand.
Prior to his World Cup debut, Quansah expressed his excitement about stepping into the starting lineup for the crucial Group L fixture.
"It will be cliché but it's a dream come true, and there's probably no better words to actually sum it up," said Quansah.
The young defender noted that representing his country on the global stage was a lifelong ambition he felt fully prepared to undertake.
"Because when you're younger, playing in the back garden, or whatever you're doing, you always think about World Cups and the biggest stage of them all in my opinion," said Quansah.
He emphasized the profound significance of the opportunity just before the match commenced.
"To be able to play with England it will be a massive, massive honour, and something I'm ready for, and something I'd look forward to," said Quansah.
