The creators noted that this tactical narrative choice allowed viewers to gain insight into the ongoing plot developments ahead of the characters.
"Part of the fun of having him in town as a wolf among the sheep is for the audience to understand the significance of the things Sophia does even as our characters are in the dark," added the showrunners.
Actress Julia Doyle, who portrays Sophia, expressed satisfaction with the early disclosure of her character's villainous identity during an interview with Horror Geek Life.
"It's really f***ing bad sometimes but at the same time with acting, it's really good because I don't have to think about 'now, be bad, now be mischievous,'" stated Doyle.
Doyle explained that knowing the secret from the first episode allowed her greater creative latitude during filming.
"It's also really nice that my character got revealed in the first episode, the end of Episode 1, so I knew I had that freedom," Doyle said.
Escalating Threats in the Finale
The narrative stakes increase as the characters face escalating threats from the town's monsters, with promotional clips hinting at a chaotic climax.
