Bangladesh's Test cricket journey resumes with a one-off match against Zimbabwe starting Sunday at Harare Sports Club in Harare.

This is Bangladesh's first Test in Zimbabwe since 2021, when they won by 220 runs.

The original tour schedule included two Tests and five ODIs, but was later revised to one Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

Squad changes and injuries

Newcomers Towhid Hridoy and Robiul Haque have been included, while all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and pacers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana are rested.

Uncapped Amite Hasan remains with the team after being part of the squad since the Pakistan series in May.

Litton Das is out with a calf injury, replaced by Mahidul Islam.

Pacer Hasan Mahmud has joined Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed in Zimbabwe after playing County Championship matches for Kent.

Bangladesh have won eight of their last 10 Tests against Zimbabwe over the past 13 years.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed confidence: "We tried to make the best possible preparations with the facilities available.

Everyone is confident. We've been playing good cricket and I believe we can produce a strong performance."

Shanto sees this series as preparation for upcoming away tours against Australia and South Africa.

"We want to win and play good cricket.

After this series, we have several away series coming up, so it's important how well we perform here," he said.

"If our batters and bowlers do well here, it will also benefit us in upcoming series. Our focus is on playing the best cricket we can."

Zimbabwe are not part of the current ICC World Test Championship cycle but may join an expanded format from 2027.

The hosts are without star all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who is playing in the T20 Blast in the UK.

They have recalled 39-year-old leg-spinner Graeme Cremer, who last played a Test in 2017.
