"No more virtue-signalling. Proper scrutiny.
Real justice," stated Joe Martin, Reform MS.
Mr. Martin alleged that supporters of the refugee initiative only opposed its abolition because Ukrainian refugees had not committed violent street crimes, drawing a direct contrast with another nationality.
"The same cannot be said for Sudanese asylum seekers," added Joe Martin, Reform MS.
The Reform politician later questioned the assembly regarding actions to prevent future incidents, while falsely claiming that Welsh government funds were used to plant gender-equal trees in Uganda.
"I was well aware that consensus politicians and media would try to silence and discredit me for standing up for what I believe, and it hasn't deterred me one bit," stated Joe Martin, Reform MS.
He further maintained that representing his electorate required challenging the existing political consensus in Cardiff.
"It's been a privilege standing up for my constituents, Reform voters, and common sense," stated Joe Martin, Reform MS.
Mr. Martin concluded his public statement by encouraging his base to remain firm against public criticism.
"Don't let anyone shame you for saying what you think is right," stated Joe Martin, Reform MS.
Cross-Party Reactions and Defense
The remarks drew immediate emotional responses and pushback from cross-party lawmakers who objected to the rhetoric inside the chamber.
Labour MS Shav Taj struggled to contain tears during her response, citing her own family's immigration history to counter the statements.
"To conflate the issue of immigration with the Nation of Sanctuary [a Welsh government refugee initiative] and … some of the vile stuff we've just been hearing is actually really shocking," said Shav Taj, Labour MS.
