Oxfam Cymru warned that economic anxieties were being leveraged to scapegoat vulnerable communities and undermine institutional respect.

"The strength of our democracy in Cymru has always rested on respect, solidarity, care and evidence, and a shared commitment to the common good," said Hade Turkmen, Acting Head of Oxfam Cymru.

Ms. Turkmen urged political figures across all parties to maintain dignity and factual accuracy during public debates.

"When debate slips into division and distortion, it diminishes not only our institutions but the communities they represent and serve," said Hade Turkmen, Acting Head of Oxfam Cymru.

She emphasized the broader social responsibility held by elected officials when addressing sensitive demographic topics.

"Words matter.

Public discourse shapes attitudes, influences behaviour and can either strengthen or weaken social cohesion," said Hade Turkmen, Acting Head of Oxfam Cymru.

Ms. Turkmen reiterated the necessity of resisting divisive rhetoric during periods of economic instability.

"At a time when many communities are facing economic hardship and uncertainty, we must resist attempts to divide people or scapegoat vulnerable groups," said Hade Turkmen, Acting Head of Oxfam Cymru.

The organization called for a collective effort to counter prejudice within the political landscape.

"We urge politicians from all parties to challenge prejudice wherever it appears and to ensure debate is rooted in dignity, truth and respect," said Hade Turkmen, Acting Head of Oxfam Cymru.
