American singer Lizzo has addressed the low first-week sales of her fifth studio album, titled "Bitch," which sold between 2,649 and 2,650 copies in its debut week after dropping on June 5, 2026.
The album failed to chart on the Billboard 200, a sharp decline from her 2022 album "Special," which debuted with 39,000 to 69,000 units and reached No. 2.

In interviews released on June 28, 2026, Lizzo revealed that she noticed low preorder and presave figures weeks before the launch.
She personally hung promotional posters and later experienced a severe emotional reaction to the official numbers.
"It dropped, and I was like, 'Oh, OK, this isn't what I thought it would be,'" she told Swiftologist.
The Grammy-winning artist explained that she went through a brief period where the data heavily impacted her self-worth before turning to spiritual reflection.
"There was, like, 24 hours of my life where I based my success and my worth on a number, and I think that was soul-crushing," she said.
Lizzo said she had to reshape her perspective on the project because she remained genuinely satisfied with the quality of the tracks.
"I had to reframe and be like, 'But aren't you proud of yourself?' And I was like, 'Yeah, I actually am proud of myself,'" she stated.
Emotional Toll and Industry Shifts
The singer admitted that the poor commercial reception caused significant emotional distress because she believed the project represented some of her finest work.
