Municipalities across Windsor-Essex are preparing for Canada Day celebrations on Wednesday, July 1, featuring community parades, live entertainment, and drone light shows.
The events mark the 159th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) and the Windsor Parade Corporation have organized the annual downtown parade.
It will start at 11 a. m.
at Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard, with over 60 floats, marching bands, and giant inflatables.
Shane Peters, Manager of Programs and Placemaking at the DWBIA, highlighted the growing community involvement.
"Canada Day has become one of downtown Windsor's most diverse community celebrations," he said.
An arts fair on University Avenue will run alongside the parade, offering additional entertainment and family activities.
"Between the Canada Day Parade and the Arts Fair, residents and visitors can enjoy a full day of entertainment, local culture, family activities, and community spirit," Peters added.
LaSalle and Other Celebrations
In LaSalle, festivities will take place at The Loop and the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing from 5 p.
m. to 11 p.

m. , with a live drone show at 10 p.
m. Mayor Crystal Meloche expressed local pride in hosting the waterfront activities.
"We are proud to celebrate Canada Day together in LaSalle and welcome residents and visitors to our waterfront," she said.
Meloche noted the event showcases the township's newly developed public spaces.
"This event is a great opportunity to showcase The Loop and Event Centre at LaSalle Landing," she added.
Other regional celebrations include a $4.9-million park opening and a 10 p. m.
fireworks display in Lakeshore's Stoney Point Community Park. Family picnics are planned in Tecumseh, and musical performances will take place in Kingsville and Leamington.
All Windsor-Essex municipal buildings, provincial offices, federal buildings, and public library branches will be closed on Wednesday.
