The former international insisted the players themselves should have rebelled against the conservative tactical plan.
"They should have just said a firm no," Kraay stated.
He compared the performance to a fearful catenaccio style against a Moroccan team that had not dominated their group stage games against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
"It looked a bit like a fearful catenaccio against the Morocco that in the group stage against Brazil, Scotland and Haiti was not exactly dominant for ninety minutes," he commented.
Regarding Koeman's future, Kraay stated the manager does not need to be dismissed because he will likely step down voluntarily soon.
"Koeman has always had the full confidence of his key players.
