England faces the Democratic Republic of Congo in the World Cup round of 32 in Atlanta on Wednesday, with manager Thomas Tuchel warning against any thoughts of future opponents.

The Three Lions secured top spot in Group L after a 2-0 victory over Panama at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane ensured England avoided a tougher side of the knockout bracket.

Tuchel dismissed discussions about potential future opponents and the pathway to the final ahead of the fixture.

"It's possible, but there's a match, no?

And there is only one match that we can focus on and that is the next match," Tuchel said.

The head coach emphasized that looking past the central African nation could result in immediate consequences for the tournament contenders.

"If we get carried away and start talking and thinking about possible round of 16, we will just get punished," Tuchel added.

Potential Path Ahead

A successful result on Wednesday would advance England to a match against either co-hosts Mexico or Ecuador.

Mexico advanced after topping a group containing South Africa, South Korea, and Czechia, while Ecuador progressed following a victory over Germany.
