The coaching staff and players recognize the specific tactical difficulties that Bosnia-Herzegovina presents.
"Every team brings different challenges," Richards said.
He analyzed the strengths of the Bosnian squad, emphasizing their defensive structure and veteran offensive players.
"Ultimately the Bosnia team, they were good defensively and good going forward. It's making sure that we take care of business on both ends.
They have a very experienced attack so it's making sure we do our best in the back to take that away from them," Richards said.
A victory on Wednesday would propel the U. S.
team to a round of 16 match next Monday in Seattle against either Belgium or Senegal.
"It's our chance to go farther in this tournament," Richards said.
He concluded with optimism regarding the shifting landscape of the bracket as major teams exit.
"We've seen two big boys fall.
So it's just a matter of us getting through this game and putting in a good performance and hopefully we continue that.
