British wildcard Arthur Fery advanced to the third round of Wimbledon for the first time on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Fery, ranked world No. 118, defeated Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-3 on Court 18.

The 23-year-old rallied from one set down to secure the victory.
In other tournament developments, British player Katie Swan prepared to face 26th seed Madison Keys on Court No. 1.
Swan reached the second round after a long recovery from severe back injuries.
She noted that a specialist in Arizona identified the root cause of her physical issues.
"He found that my nerves weren't functioning properly," said Swan.
The injury had previously forced her to consider retiring from professional tennis and transitioning into coaching in Kansas.
"It was a really hard time to imagine getting out of.
I took about eight months out and it took me a really long time to get back to a place where I felt like physically I could compete at all at a professional level again," she said.
Ahead of her matchup against Keys, Swan expressed her mindset.

"I don't really feel any pressure in that sense," said Swan.
She highlighted the importance of this achievement given her long history of physical setbacks.
"I'm just so overwhelmingly happy to be in round two. For me, in the context of my career, this is a huge moment," she said.
