British tennis saw mixed results at Wimbledon on Thursday as wildcard Arthur Fery advanced to the third round, while Katie Swan was eliminated in straight sets.
Fery, ranked 114th in the world, rallied on Court 18 to beat Finland's Otto Virtanen 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 6-3.

The 23-year-old reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time.
His victory kept home hopes alive after a historically poor opening round, where 15 British players were eliminated.
According to a BBC report, that was the highest number of British casualties at the tournament since 1988, leaving only four home competitors standing.

Swan's Run Ends
Swan, 27, made her first Wimbledon appearance in three years but lost 6-1, 6-4 to American Madison Keys.
Despite the defeat, she earlier described a "full-circle moment" after winning her first Grand Slam main-draw match since 2018.
Fery, who played part of his match in front of the Princess of Wales, will next face either Belgium's Zizou Bergs or Portugal's Jaime Faria.

Fellow British players Jacob Fearnley and Jan Choinski are scheduled to play later on Thursday against Jaume Munar and Frances Tiafoe, respectively.
