Johan Manzambi, the 20-year-old Freiburg forward, played a pivotal role. He set up the opening goal with a precise cross after beating defender Aissa Mandi.
Breel Embolo finished the chance in the 10th minute to give Switzerland an early lead. The Swiss continued to dominate after halftime.
Just 48 seconds into the second half, Dan Ndoye doubled the lead. He controlled a clearance from Mandi and fired past goalkeeper Luca Zidane.
Switzerland manager Murat Yakin celebrated on the sidelines as his team controlled the match.
The Swiss had started the tournament with a draw against Qatar but have now won three straight games.

During this run, they have scored eight goals and conceded only two. Ruben Vargas and Ndoye caused constant problems on the flanks.
Manzambi was substituted midway through the second half after his crucial contribution. Algeria struggled to threaten Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Houssem Aouar missed a big chance early on after a dummy from Riyad Mahrez. Later, Ibrahim Maza shot wide from a Mahrez cross.
Mahrez also had a shot blocked by Denis Zakaria.
Switzerland nearly added a third in the 81st minute when Fabian Rieder fired straight at Zidane with an open goal.

The missed chance did not matter as Switzerland closed out the win comfortably. They will face either Colombia or Ghana on Tuesday.
