Singh was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for conspiracy to commit murder and extortion linked to the "For Brothers" organized crime group.
Multi-Jurisdictional Investigation
After processing in Edmonton, authorities transferred Singh to Ontario on June 26, 2026. He faces additional charges from two violent incidents in Brampton.
Investigators in Peel Region tied Singh to an April 21 business shooting where 14 shell casings were recovered, and a May 6 incident where a suspect pointed a malfunctioning firearm at a resident.
Edmonton police also arrested 28-year-old Sandeep Singh and 22-year-old Divianshu Divianshu during the initial May 4 traffic stop involving a Dodge Charger.
While Safaldeep Singh was initially released on bail, subsequent searches of his residence uncovered evidence of vehicle re-vinning operations tied to extortion crimes.
Staff Sgt.
Eric Stewart with EPS’ Investigative Response Team said, "Two search warrants of his residence revealed evidence consistent with vehicle re-vinning operations tied to extortion related crimes."
Stewart noted that the police service launched a multi-jurisdictional collaborative framework called Project Insight to address the ongoing threats.
"Project Insight is using our learnings, strengths and connections from our highly successful previous investigations to build a response to the ongoing threat of extortion in our South Asian community," Stewart said.
Stewart emphasized the strategic core of the project regarding information exchange across regional boundaries.
