The Dallas Stars have signed team captain Jamie Benn to a one-year contract extension, the club announced on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The deal keeps the veteran winger in Dallas through the 2026-27 season.

According to PuckPedia, the contract carries an $850,000 base cap hit with an annual average value of $2 million, thanks to $1.15 million in potential performance bonuses.
The incentives include $200,000 milestones for playing 10, 20, and 40 games, a $150,000 bonus if the team qualifies for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and $100,000 for each postseason round the Stars win.

Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced the extension from Frisco, Texas.
Benn had considered retirement after Dallas was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Wild.

“Jamie’s leadership and commitment to this organization is truly unmatched and he has helped define our culture,” Nill said.
“He continues to set the standard on and off the ice, and we’re excited to have him leading our team for another season.”
The 36-year-old forward has spent his entire 17-year NHL career with the Stars, who drafted him 129th overall in the fifth round of the 2007 draft.

Benn ranks second in franchise history with 414 goals and 992 points across 1,252 regular-season games, trailing only Hall of Fame center Mike Modano.
