Chapman's Historic Milestone

The 38-year-old Chapman surpassed Hoyt Wilhelm's long-standing record by recording his 1,364th career relief strikeout. He fanned Denzer Guzman to lead off the ninth inning.

Wilhelm had held the record since last pitching in 1972.

Chapman allowed two consecutive singles following the historic milestone but forced Jo Adell into a game-ending double play.

He earned his 17th save of the season.

Bennett's Strong Start

Bennett earned the win to improve his record to 3-3. He struck out six batters and issued zero walks through seven-plus innings.

Offensively for Boston, Romy Gonzalez collected three hits and drove in two runs. Caleb Durbin hit a solo home run to start the fifth inning.

Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe exited the game in the third inning for medical evaluation after a foul ball struck his mask.
