Giuliani argued that blocking specific administrative officials did not hamper the squad's actual sporting performance on the pitch.

"But, an official who was not going to affect the play on the field, I think it was very reasonable to draw the line there," opined Giuliani.

He stated that significant federal funds were utilized to protect the Iranian delegation from external disruptions while they were on American soil.

"We look at this tournament, the way they were able to get in and come out, and the fact there was no incidents around that team… we poured plenty of resource into making sure that team was safe as well," remarked Giuliani.

The official then claimed the players themselves showed genuine gratitude toward the local organizers despite the political friction.

"Guys, I think you saw the letter in Los Angeles, the thank you letter that they ended up writing," pointed out Giuliani.

He praised individual members of the squad for expressing positive sentiments publicly before leaving the competition.

"That was truly amazing.

The fact that their captain went out there, and (Mehdi) Taremi came out, to said it was a pleasure to play here.
