During his delayed address, which was intended to criticize socialism, the president made an assertion regarding the text of the founding document.

"And as our Declaration of Independence tells us, we are all made in the image of one almighty god.

And a communist will never say that. That's for sure," said President Donald Trump.

However, the actual historical document does not contain that phrase, instead focusing on human equality and unalienable rights given by a creator.

It does say "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights."

Earlier in his remarks, the president praised the foundational laws of the United States as an unparalleled legislative achievement.

He called the Constitution "the most righteous political document ever conceived."

He then listed specific constitutional liberties before pausing to complain about his own legal challenges.

"Unlike so many others in the world, in this country we have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal justice under the law," listed President Donald Trump.
