Kyiv regional military administration head Tymur Tkachenko confirmed the casualties and said rescue operations were ongoing.

"Nine deaths and 46 wounded have now been confirmed as a result of the Russian attack (including five wounded children)," Tkachenko stated.

He added that four residential buildings were hit in the Podilskyi district alone. "Sadly, this is not the final toll.

Rescue operations are still ongoing," Tkachenko said.

Another person died in the Bucha district northwest of Kyiv.

At least 15 residential buildings across the capital were damaged or destroyed, including a nine-storey block and a 21-storey residential building.

Russian and Ukrainian Military Actions

The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the large-scale deployment of long-range weapons and drones against Ukrainian targets on Monday.

In a Telegram post, the ministry claimed it had hit military and energy facilities in Kyiv and its surroundings, as well as military airfields in several other Ukrainian regions.

In response, Ukrainian forces struck energy infrastructure near Sevastopol in Russian-annexed Crimea and targeted a St. Petersburg oil terminal and nearby port.

Crimean Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev confirmed that the Ukrainian strike temporarily disrupted the local power grid.

"Following an enemy attack on energy infrastructure near Sevastopol, our city was temporarily left without electricity," Razvozhayev wrote.

On the eastern front, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected Moscow's claims of capturing the strategic town of Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region.

"Fighting is also continuing for Kostyantynivka, which (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin has already claimed as his own, but it is obvious that he will never dare to appear there," Zelenskyy said.
