President Donald Trump shared a video on Truth Social on Monday showing a kindergarten graduation in Minnesota where female students wore hijabs, sparking immediate backlash from local officials and political opponents.

The footage, from Gateway STEM Academy in St. Paul, shows about 21 children in caps and gowns singing on stage, with most young girls wearing white hijabs under their caps.

The initial post had no caption, but Trump later shared a commentary from the account End Wokeness that highlighted the religious attire: “Public school in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Every girl is in a hijab… in kindergarten.”

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz responded sharply, accusing the president of targeting young children over their clothing.

“The President of the United States is attacking a group of kindergartners because of the clothes they wore to school,” Walz said.

Representative Nancy Mace also criticized the language used in public institutions, stating, “If you are in a public school in America, you should be speaking English.”

Online comments included hostile and anti-immigrant remarks directed at the students, such as “future terrorists” and “These children aren’t even cute to me.”

The incident fits a pattern of Trump targeting Muslim Americans, including Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

He has previously called Omar “low IQ” and suggested sending certain lawmakers “back from where they came.”

In a December 2025 speech, Trump said of Somali immigrants, “I don’t want them in our country,” adding, “Their country stinks, and we don’t want them in our country.”

He described the community as “garbage.”

Separately, during a media exchange on Monday, Trump discussed his social media popularity, claiming he is “number one on TikTok by far,” ahead of Taylor Swift.

He credited the platform with helping him win the election “in a landslide.”

Internal reports indicate a shift in administration dynamics, with sources saying Trump is no longer weighing between potential successors but is focused on Vice President JD Vance’s performance.
