Russian missile strikes injured 12 people across Kyiv and Odesa early Wednesday, while Ukrainian drone forces targeted a dozen Russian shadow fleet fuel tankers in the Sea of Azov.

Kyiv faced an air alert lasting about an hour, causing fires in a non-residential building and a storage area.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed two people were injured, with one requiring hospitalization.

The strikes followed an onslaught on Monday that killed 30 people across Ukraine. A separate missile strike in Odesa injured 10 people, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper.

Ukraine Intensifies Drone Campaign

Ukrainian drone forces intensified efforts to isolate the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.

Military officials reported striking eight sanctioned vessels, each with a deadweight of approximately 7,000 metric tons, before hitting two additional tankers later that day.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged international allies to allow Ukraine to join NATO, emphasizing that the country's highly experienced armed forces would significantly boost the alliance's defense capabilities.

Zelenskyy noted that the military eliminates an average of 30,000 Russian troops every month during the ongoing five-year conflict.

US President Donald Trump stated he spoke with both the Ukrainian and Russian presidents regarding ending the war prior to the NATO summit in Ankara.

"They both want to get it settled now," Trump said.

Zelenskyy also announced new drone agreements signed on Tuesday with Denmark, Estonia, and the Netherlands to share expertise developed since the February 2022 invasion.

The deals involve Kyiv providing blueprints for drone technology in exchange for royalties and military hardware.

Ukraine's foreign ministry criticized the International Olympic Committee's decision to lift the Russian Olympic Committee's suspension, urging international bodies to maintain strict restrictions.

The ministry called on host nations to uphold bans on Russian state symbols while the unprovoked war continues.
