F1 analyst Peter Windsor discussed Verstappen's perspective and potential team movements during a broadcast with Cameron CC.
"If you are Max now, you wonder: what is Toto's number again? I keep losing his number," said Peter Windsor, analyst.
Windsor suggested that Mercedes management should prioritize acquiring Verstappen even if it requires buying out existing driver commitments.
"Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but if I were Toto and Max told me he wanted to drive for me next year, I would just go to the board and say: listen, we have to buy out George and get him another seat.
We have to get Max," said Peter Windsor, analyst.
The analyst outlined a projected future driver lineup that he believes would secure the competitive future of the German racing team over the long term.
"We need Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli. That is the next five years of Mercedes," said Peter Windsor, analyst.
Speculation regarding Russell's security remains countered by Italian media reports and statements made by the driver in Austria affirming his contract security for 2027.
