Land Rover has updated its Defender lineup for 2027, with the flagship Octa losing 93 hp and a new Vertex trim gaining a more aggressive look.
Octa Power Drop
The BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-liter mild hybrid V8 now produces 533 hp (540 PS), down from 626 hp (635 PS).

Torque remains unchanged at 750 Nm.
The 0-60 mph sprint extends from 3.8 to 4.2 seconds. However, Land Rover says revised exhaust manifolds deliver a deeper, more authentic V8 soundtrack.
The old supercharged JLR V8 has been discontinued for the 90 and 130 models.
New Vertex Trim
The Defender Vertex is available in 90, 110, and 130 body styles.

It features chunkier bumpers, a larger grille similar to the Octa, body-colored lower cladding, gloss black details, yellow brake calipers, and standard 22-inch wheels.
Buyers can opt for the Patagonia White Matte Wrap or other paint finishes.
Six-Seat Layout and New Colors
Defender 110 buyers can now choose a six-seat layout with individual captain chairs in the second row. Land Rover claims improved third-row access and extra luggage space.
New paint options include Woolstone Green for the Octa and Namib Orange for other trims. A new gloss protective film can heal minor scratches over time.

Additional accessories include a lockable tail door gear carrier, roof lighting, and more spoiler options arriving later this year.
