The United States military launched overnight airstrikes against more than 80 Iranian targets around the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after Iran allegedly attacked three commercial vessels on Tuesday.

"I think they're wasting their time," said Trump.

Trump further intensified his rhetoric against Tehran's political leadership during his address at the international summit, describing Iran's leaders as "vicious, violent people" and "scum."

NATO leadership quickly offered international backing for the American military actions, framing the strikes as a necessary response to original truce violations committed by Iranian forces.

"When you have a ceasefire and Iran is basically violating the ceasefire, I think it is totally crucial that the US forcefully react," said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that its retaliatory strikes successfully targeted 85 U. S.

facilities across Bahrain and Kuwait as diplomatic talks continue under severe strain.
