A year later, an employee at a Canadian health food store recognized her and expressed gratitude for the broader impact of her public pay equity fight.
"I was in a health food store in Ontario or somewhere in Canada, making a movie a year later.
A girl in the health food store said to me, 'Oh, thank you so much for what you did for pay equity.

Rossum left Shameless in 2019 to launch her production company, Composition 8, and maintains that she has no regrets about the dispute.
"I think ambition and wanting to be in the driver's seat of your life is not something to be shied away from," said Rossum.
She concluded by reflecting on the importance of internal self-worth over public perception.
"I think [being] likable should not be the focus.
