The winner advances to the semifinals to face either Spain or Belgium.

The undefeated French squad has outscored opponents 14-2 across five matches, including a 1-0 round-of-16 victory against Paraguay secured by a Kylian Mbappé penalty kick.

Morocco reached the final eight after finishing second in Group C, defeating the Netherlands on penalties, and securing a 3-0 victory over Canada.

Revenge Motive for Morocco

This fixture is a rematch of the 2022 World Cup semi-final in Qatar, where France won 2-0 with goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

Moroccan sports journalist Hamza Shteiwy said the game carries significant emotional weight for returning players.

"This is a revenge match for the Moroccan national team," said Shteiwy. He noted that expectations are much higher now compared to their underdog status in 2022.

"Anything less than the semi-finals wouldn't be considered an achievement."

Shteiwy emphasized that while France possesses greater individual talent, Morocco's midfield is competitive. "If they can press France early, like they did against Brazil, they can create problems."

Fan Support and Institutional Growth

Traveling supporters from Morocco and the global diaspora are expected to give the North African team a distinct atmosphere advantage.

"I dare say Morocco will have the stronger support," said Shteiwy.

Veteran journalist Hameed Bel Hassan attributed Morocco's rise to sixth in the FIFA world rankings to institutional investments by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

"What happened in Qatar wasn't a fluke. It was the result of years of strategic planning."

Bel Hassan highlighted the federation's practice of inviting players' mothers to major tournaments. "When the player sees his mother in the stands, it's a huge boost and motivation."
