Thailand's Labour Court accepted a petition on Friday from three Thai sailors seeking damages after a deadly attack on their cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz in March.

The legal action targets companies and agencies linked to the vessel owner, Precious Shipping, and its captain.

The plaintiffs demand at least 1 million baht ($30,000) each in compensation.

The sailors accuse their employers of intentionally navigating into dangerous waters, risking their lives, and causing injuries that prevent them from working.

Psychological Trauma and Inadequate Compensation

Lawyer Kunpat Singhathong said all three have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and are unlikely to work as sailors again.

So far, the crew members have only received two months' wages and reimbursement for lost belongings.

The attorney noted that Precious Shipping stated it paid all legal entitlements and refused further responsibility.

Former crewman Noppadon Wongsuvan criticized the payout as inadequate and below international standards.

"They paid and they said to us don't ask for more, what we gave is already a lot," he said.

The attack occurred on March 11, when two projectiles struck the Thai-flagged Mayuree Naree, killing three crew members and leaving others traumatized.

Former crew member Panithi Tumkaew, an 11-year veteran of the company, said he now requires sedatives and cannot return to work because loud noises frighten him.

Precious Shipping informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that it had not yet received the court documents.

The company maintained that it supported the crew in compliance with legal and contractual obligations.

"Since the incident occurred, the company has continuously provided care and support to the affected crew members and their families," stated Precious Shipping in an official release.
