Replacement Athletes Announced
In response to the roster changes, team officials confirmed replacement athletes including 2018 bronze medalist Niamh Emerson, Renee Regis, Ebuka Nwokeji, Tara Simpson-Sullivan, Tom Keen, and netball player Ella Clark.
"I would like to send my best wishes to those who leave the team whether due to injury or other circumstances," said Scott Grace, Team England athletics team leader.
Grace expressed optimism for the athletes stepping up.
"We are delighted to be welcoming an additional five athletes to Team England, across a range of different events."

He added that the tournament offers a high-profile platform for the incoming competitors.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for those athletes who are in excellent form to step into Team England and represent their country on the world stage."
Event organizers acknowledged the high-profile absences, which also include international stars like St. Lucia's Julien Alfred, Canada's Summer McIntosh, Kenya's Mary Moraa, and Australia's Kaylee McKeown, but maintained that the competition remains strong.
"We have got an incredible field of athletes," said Phil Batty, Glasgow 2026 chief executive. He emphasized the importance of showcasing both elite talent and rising stars.
Batty noted that the competition serves as a launching pad for future champions, similar to previous editions.
"It is equally exciting to see which athletes this starts that breakthrough moment."
Addressing scheduling conflicts created by the condensed 18-month preparation timeline following Victoria's withdrawal as original hosts, leadership pledged to coordinate better with global sports bodies in future cycles.
"This Games was a little bit of a challenge because we only had 18 months and it was really difficult to say 'where is the gap in the two-year period?'
," said Katie Sadlier, Commonwealth Sport chief executive.
Sadlier indicated that discussions are ongoing to avoid similar calendar overlaps for future Games. "As we move forward more of those conversations will happen."

The track and field events at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin on Monday.
