Apple TV has unveiled a major expansion of its entertainment catalog, introducing an eight-part dating documentary series titled "The Last Person on Earth" and a live-action film adaptation of Mattel's Matchbox toy line starring John Cena.

The announcements came during San Diego Comic-Con weekend, revealing the service's future programming strategy, which includes new trailers for sci-fi titles and long-term plans for established franchises.

New Dating Series and Matchbox Film

The dating series pairs individuals with opposing personalities, guided by relationship experts and therapists.

This marks a shift toward lighter, unscripted relationship programming for the platform, historically focused on high-budget scripted drama.

Meanwhile, "Matchbox The Movie" is an action feature centered on high-speed stunts and covert operations, produced with Mattel.

John Cena plays an undercover CIA operative, steering the adaptation into an action-thriller direction rather than an animated family concept.

Apple also showcased upcoming sci-fi releases, including second-season footage for "Dark Matter" and a preview of "Neuromancer."

Updates on 'The Morning Show' and 'Ted Lasso'

Executives confirmed that drama series "The Morning Show" will conclude after its fifth season in 2027, marking an eight-year run for the flagship program.

Jason Sudeikis, executive producer and star of "Ted Lasso," provided updates ahead of the show's August 5 return.

While Apple has not officially commissioned a fifth season, writing staff plan to meet in late August to pitch concepts for a second three-season story arc.
