Edmonton bolstered its roster with additions such as forward Mathieu Joseph and goaltender Frederik Andersen alongside newly hired head coach Mike Babcock.
"At the same time, really excited about some of the additions," said McDavid.
McDavid voiced total enthusiasm for the franchise's trajectory moving into the 2026-27 campaign.
"New coach, some good players," said McDavid.

The captain emphasized that the arrival of high-caliber talent creates fresh energy around the club.
"It's an exciting time in Edmonton," said McDavid.
McDavid highlighted the depth of experience Babcock brings to the bench after coaching at every major level of professional hockey.
"We see a great opportunity to be coached by someone who has coached in every single big game there is to coach in," said McDavid.
He noted how beneficial Babcock's decorated resume will be for the locker room leadership structure.
"You name it, he's done it," said McDavid.
McDavid added that players are eager to absorb tactical guidance from the Stanley Cup-winning head coach.
"It's a great opportunity for us players to be coached by somebody like him and learn off him," said McDavid.
He reinforced that Babcock's established identity aligns perfectly with the squad's championship aspirations.
"With where our group is at and what we're looking for, he's the perfect fit," said McDavid.
The veteran coach brings clear standards and expectations to an established core looking to recover from a first-round playoff exit last spring.
"He's not gonna need to come in and find who he is as a coach or find himself," said McDavid.
McDavid concluded by placing the ultimate responsibility back onto the players as training camp approaches.

"In those situations, he knows what he's about as a coach, and it's our job as players to be ready to go," said McDavid.
